Linwood Barclay was born in 1960 in South Africa. He spent his youth in Cape Town and went to college at the University of Cape Town. He has been writing since he was sixteen, when his first novel, The Flying Dutchman, was published. In 1992, after a move to the United States, he began writing full-time and published his first book in 1994. Since then, he has written over thirty books for children and young adults. His books have been translated into seventeen languages and have been or are being adapted into movies all over the world.
He currently lives in Florida with his wife and two children.
